Telecommunication Website SEO Case Study: 71 to 7,900 Clicks in One Quarter
Seventy-one clicks in three months is not a traffic channel. It is a rounding error.
This is the story of a telecommunication website that Google had all but ignored, and of the single quarter in which that changed: clicks up 111x, impressions past one million, average position from 9.2 to 6.3, all recorded in Google Search Console. We publish the numbers and withhold the client's name, because handing a client's strategy to their competitors is not a service we offer.

The proof
The Graph, Straight From Google
This screenshot is the campaign's scoreboard. The dotted line is the previous three months: flat, hugging zero. The solid line is the quarter we worked on it, and it does not step up once and plateau. It keeps climbing, from roughly 30 clicks a day early in the window to about 180 a day by the end, with daily impressions reaching roughly 25,000 to 30,000.

Where it started
A Real Business That Google Treated Like It Did Not Exist
The starting position was 71 organic clicks in an entire quarter. Not per day, not per week: 71 clicks in three months, from 5,440 impressions. For a telecommunication company whose buyers research everything online before they ever pick up a phone, that meant the sales pipeline was running almost entirely on referrals and paid channels while competitors collected the search demand for free.
Telecom is an unforgiving niche to be invisible in. The services are complex, the contracts are significant, and buyers compare options carefully, which means the winners of those comparison searches win the customer long before a sales conversation happens. Every day this site stayed out of the results, someone else's site was doing its selling.
The frustrating part is that the business behind the website was genuinely strong. The problem was that Google could not see enough of the site, and what it could see was not written in the language its customers search with.
The diagnosis
What We Found When We Looked Under the Hood
Our audit surfaced a pattern we know well from technical B2B websites. None of these findings is exotic on its own; together they explain a flat line. These became the campaign's four focus areas.
Pages Google could not reach
Large sections of the site were effectively invisible to search engines, so even strong service pages had no chance to rank. Crawling and indexing became the first focus area of the campaign.
Copy written in engineer language
The site described its offerings in internal industry jargon while buyers searched in plain problem-first language. The overlap between the two vocabularies was close to zero.
Almost no authority signals
Competitors in the telecommunication space had spent years accumulating relevant links and mentions. This site had barely any, which capped how far even well-optimized pages could climb.
No content for the research phase
Telecom buyers compare, evaluate, and shortlist before they contact anyone. The site had nothing answering those comparison and how-it-works searches, so it entered the conversation last, if at all.
The site was not losing to better companies. It was losing to better-indexed, better-worded, better-connected websites, and all three of those are fixable.
The campaign
What We Did, Phase by Phase
We sequenced the work deliberately. Content on an uncrawlable site is wasted, and links to weak pages are wasted, so the order below is the order that lets each phase amplify the one before it.
Technical foundation
We started where the biggest blocker was: making the site fully crawlable and indexable. Our technical SEO work repaired the issues that kept key pages out of Google's index, cleaned up how the site's structure was presented to crawlers, and made sure every important page could be discovered, rendered, and understood.
Technical SEOOn-page rebuild and content
We rebuilt the core pages around the queries real buyers type, not the labels the industry uses internally, and our content writing team produced supporting pages for the comparison and informational searches the site had never answered. Every page targeted demand we could verify in search data.
SEO content writingAuthority building
We layered in off-page SEO once the pages were worth pointing at. Relevant links and mentions gave Google external evidence that the site deserved the positions its improved content was competing for, which is what pushed rankings from appearing to actually climbing.
Off-page SEO and backlinksMeasure, prioritize, repeat
We ran the whole engagement as a monthly cycle: measure what moved in Search Console, find the next highest-impact opportunity, act on it. That loop is our Complete Monthly SEO service, and it is the reason the graph keeps steepening instead of flattening after the first wins.

The results
Reading the Numbers Honestly
The headline numbers are simple: clicks grew from 71 to 7,900, a 111x increase, and impressions grew from 5,440 to 1.17 million in the same three months. Average position improved from 9.2 to 6.3, moving the site's typical ranking from the bottom of page one into its upper half.
There is one number that moved the other way, and we would rather explain it than hide it. Average CTR fell from 1.3% to 0.7%. That is exactly what should happen here: when a site suddenly appears for hundreds of thousands of new queries, most of those new impressions arrive at positions where few people click yet. The new visibility dilutes the average while absolute clicks multiply. A shrinking CTR percentage on 215x more impressions still meant 111x more actual visitors.
The shape of the graph matters as much as the totals. This was not a lucky spike from one page or one keyword. Daily clicks built steadily from around 30 to about 180 across the quarter, and daily impressions reached roughly 25,000 to 30,000 by the end, which is the pattern of a whole site gaining strength rather than a single page catching a trend.
When impressions grow 215x and average position still improves, the site is not just ranking better for its old queries. It is winning thousands of searches it never appeared in at all.
- Organic clicks: 71 to 7,900 in three months, a 111x increase
- Impressions: 5,440 to 1.17 million, a 215x expansion in visibility
- Average position: 9.2 to 6.3 while entering a million new results
- Steady daily growth across the quarter, not a one-off spike
What this means for you
Your Market Has a Search Demand Curve Too
The lesson of this case study is not that telecommunication is a magic niche. It is that a huge amount of search demand already existed, and the site was simply not eligible to receive it. The demand was there before we arrived. Our work made the site visible to it.
If your website is technically sound, speaks your customers' language, answers their research questions, and carries real authority, Google has every reason to show it. If any of those four is broken, you are donating your search demand to a competitor, exactly as this site was before the campaign.
We cannot promise you a 111x graph, and you should distrust anyone who does. What we can do is run the same diagnosis on your website, for free.
This pattern fits your business if:
- Your pipeline depends on referrals while competitors rank
- Your website describes what you do in industry jargon
- Buyers in your niche research heavily before contacting anyone
- Traffic has been flat for quarters despite a real business behind it
